BATTLE HYMN OF MATHEMATICS LEARNERS

What is below is an altered version of a song composed by Joeanne Meldon, Taylor Allderdice High School, Pittsburgh, PA. It is presented here with permission from Ms. Meldon.

Our eyes have seen the glory
Of the math we want to learn!
Algebra is ever-useful.
It's for
math power we year.
Learning math is what we strive for
We see it at every turn.
As we go learning on.

Chorus:
GLORY, GLORY MATH IS PRACTICAL!
USE OF VARIABLES IS BEAUTIFUL.
INNUMERACY IS NOT SENSTATIONAL.
MATH POWER REALLY COUNTS.

Plato saw it in his solids,
Descartes found it in graphing pairs.
Fermat found it in prime numbers,
Beauty's present everywhere!
Leibniz found it taking limits,
Cantor saw it way out there.
And we'll go learning on.

Pi, i, and e we cherish,
Sigma, mu to us aren't Greek.
"There exists," "for all," and "such that"
Is the way we love to speak.
We'll accept the greatest challenge,
Truth and beauty's what we seek.
As we go learning on.

And when our class is over,
We will go our separate ways.
But the beauty of mathematics
Builds
math power every day.
Here's to joy with daily problems,
May we solve them come what may!
As we go learning on.
